# Signal sources

> Every way a bot can be told to trade, and what each source decides.

A bot trades when a **signal source** tells it to. Every source says the same small thing, buy or sell on the bot's pair, and the bot decides everything else: size, exits, martingale, filters and schedule. A bot can have several sources; each source gets one entry on the canvas.

## TradingView

Point an alert at the bot's webhook URL. The alert message decides the direction; everything else is configured on the bot. Anyone with the webhook link can place trades on that bot, so treat it like a password. Details in [Bots](/user-guide/bots#signal-sources).

## MetaTrader

Install the connector plugin, paste the webhook, and allow the URL under Tools, Options, Expert Advisors. The terminal must stay open to send. This is the signal side; the MetaTrader 5 broker connection for executing trades is separate, see [Brokers](/user-guide/brokers#metatrader-5).

## Telegram

Sign in with your own Telegram, pick one channel, and the bot trades the messages that are unambiguously signals for its pair. **Market** takes the direction only; **Limit** places the message's entry, stop and target on the order. Details in [Bots](/user-guide/bots#signal-sources).

## Discord

Link your Discord, add the TraderFrame bot to a server you manage, pick one channel, and the bot trades that channel's signals under the same Market and Limit rules. Discord is read by the TraderFrame bot, never by your account. Full walkthrough: [Discord signals](/user-guide/discord).

## AI assistant over MCP

Connect Claude or another assistant that speaks MCP. It sends a buy or a sell on the bot's pair and reads back what the bot did with it, the settings, the risk and the result, so its next call is better informed. It cannot change a setting. The MCP URL carries a key that belongs to that bot alone; rotate it from the panel if it leaks. Available on every plan.

## Trade Agent

TraderFrame's own model looks at the bot's pair on a clock, or judges the signals another source sends, and proposes entries under your caps. Three tiers, from proposing for your tap to owning the trade. On Basic and up. Full guide: [Trade Agent](/user-guide/trade-agent).

## Copy Trader

Copy an approved trader's bot from the leaderboard. Their Route 2 signals fan out to your bot live, under your own risk settings. Full guide: [Copy trading](/user-guide/copy-trading).

## One rule for all of them

Only the bot's own pair is ever traded. Spelling does not matter: a chart alert for `OANDA:XAUUSD` or `XAUUSD` trades on a bot whose broker writes the pair `XAUUSD.sc` or `XAUUSDm`, and a Telegram or Discord message saying "gold" does too. A signal for any other instrument is skipped and logged in the bot's **Signals** tab with the reason, as is every refusal from a filter, the schedule, a cap or a guardrail.
